UTK CCI Scholarship Endowment
For junior and senior College of Communication and Information students
studying abroad while attending the University of TN, Knoxville
In May 2013, our founder was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Nicosia, Cyprus, in the Mediterranean alongside Dr. Bob Legg and six bright-eyed students from the UT School of Journalism & Media.
She knew studying abroad would be life-changing. What she couldn't have anticipated was just how profoundly that experience would shape her life, perspective, and future.
Ten years later, she renewed her passport and signed on the dotted line to help make the
dream of studying abroad possible for future University of Tennessee, Knoxville students.
For her, #VOLForLife means planting seeds in an institution that is the garden that keeps on blooming.
Through the “Seeds Today. Sunflowers Tomorrow.” UT Knoxville Alumni
Tri-Star Scholarship Endowment,
one College of Communication & Information student is awarded
$1,000 each semester to support participation in the college’s
study abroad program.
Study abroad fosters global awareness and
academic, personal, and professional growth.
A seed planted in this endowment can:

Provide a passport for a high-need student, whether through standard or expedited processing.

Create a home away from home for a student who may not have a place to return to during the summer.

Make a once-in-a-lifetime professional opportunity possible, including the chance to work and gain experience outside the United States.

Provide essential meals during a five- or eight-week study abroad program.
Because sometimes, the difference between wanting to go and being able to go is simply having someone willing to plant the seed.
